  6. Idea and Purpose of LED Panel
  7. -----------------------------
  8. The basic idea of "LED Panel" is to make any access to BIOS drives
  9. (floppy, harddisk, RAM disk etc.) visible and that distinctively
  10. between drives and kind of access (reading or writing). As extra
  11. options the program moreover can show the state of the CapsLock
  12. key as well as the actual date and time. All informations are
  13. shown in the upper right corner of the screen (normally you can
  14. only see the blank right end of the menu title line there).

  16. Restrictions
  17. ------------
  18. The LED Panel will not work with most sorts of graphic cards and
  19. "true color". That's because LED Panel is a "TSR" program and
  20. therefore cannot use VDI graphics but writes directly to the screen
  21. instead. Maybe this will be fixed somehow in the future.

  23. The LED Panel Program
  24. ---------------------
  25. The actual program which keeps itself resident in memory and shows
  26. drive access on the screen is called "LEDPANEL.PRG". You can start
  27. it from the desktop or put it into the AUTO folder, if you want it
  28. to start automatically. LEDPANEL.PRG should run as one of the last
  29. programs in the AUTO folder then.
  30.  
  31. The Configuration Program
  32. -------------------------
  33. The configuration of the running program and also the program
  34. file can be set up by the program CONFIG.PRG. Sorry, there is no
  35. English version yet. You can load the configuration directly from
  36. the program file with the menu option "Setup laden" and later write
  37. the configuration with "Setup speichern". Don't pack or rename the
  38. program file LEDPANEL.PRG.
  39.  
  40. When you choose the menu option "Setup ändern" you can change the
  41. configuration in a dialog box called "LED-Panel Konfiguration".
  42. If you have the LED Panel installed in memory, you can watch the
  43. effects simultaneously on the screen.
  44.  
  45. Here is a short explanation of the buttons in the dialog box:
  46.  
  47. "Angemeldete Laufwerke"
  48. Use all effective BIOS drives or choose a selection (under that).
  49.  
  50. "aktiv"
  51. LED Panel display active or inactive.
  52.  
  53. "Dauer"
  54. Choose LED luminous time delay.
  55.  
  56. "Abstand"
  57. Distance of the LED Panel display to the right screen border.
  58.  
  59. "Caps"
  60. Show state of CapsLock key.
  61.  
  62. "R/W"
  63. Show "R" (read) and "W" (write) symbols.
  64.  
  65. "LEDs"
  66. Show LEDs for all selected drives (A: is leftmost LED).
  67.  
  68. "Date"
  69. Show date. Over that you can choose the digit font and whether to
  70. show years ("Jahr") or not.
  71.  
  72. "Time"
  73. Show time. Over that you can choose the digit font and whether to
  74. show seconds ("Sek") or not.
  75.  
  76. "Hole"
  77. This button appears if you have selected "Time", but haven't
  78. selected "Date". In this case you can choose with this button,
  79. whether to display date instead of time when the Alternate key
  80. is pressed or not.
  81.  
  82. "Clock symbol"
  83. With this button and some other noncaptioned buttons you can make
  84. small spaces to enhance lucidity.
  85.  
  86. "Lücken"
  87. Show space instead of LED if a drive is not used or not selected.
  88.  
  89. "B aus"
  90. Sum up access to both floppy drives to one LED.
  91.  
  92. "runde LEDs"
  93. Choose LED shape, either cornered or round.
  94.  
  95. "Zusatzlücke"
  96. Show extra spaces between LEDs. "immer" means spacing for every
  97. LED. You can also choose extra space for two particular drives.
  98.  
  99. "LED-Zeilen"
  100. Choose either one ("eine") or two ("zwei") lines of LEDs. If you
  101. choose two, the upper line stands for read access and the lower
  102. line for write access. If you select "auto" the number of lines
  103. will be automatically fit to the height of the menu title line
  104. due to the current screen resolution.

  106. "Panel schwarz"
  107. Choose background color as either black or white.
  108.  
  109. "farbige LEDs"
  110. Select whether color shall be used to distinguish between read
  111. access (green) and write access (red).
  112.  
  113. You can leave the dialog box with the button "Abbruch" or with the
  114. "OK" button. If you choose "OK", changes will be preserved, other-
  115. wise changes will be rejected.

  117. LED-Panel "light"
  118. -----------------
  119. LEDLIGHT.PRG is a "light" version of LEDPANEL.PRG. It can only do
  120. the basic funktions of the LED Panel. If you want to install more
  121. than one LED Panel at a time (maybe one before and one after a
  122. harddisk cache program) you have to change the identification of
  123. one of the programs from "LEDP" to something else (but you will
  124. have to use a disk monitor program for that). You can also make a
  125. copy of CONFIG.PRG with the different identification. Normally
  126. only one LED Panel at a time is allowed.
